/// This young child is a red-blooded boy
who’d requested a horse–riding toy,
but this pony can’t move
‘cause his Ma won’t approve
of a plaything which might give him joy.
/// He had hoped to ride horseback, but— no.
There’s a chair where the rider must go.
Then, by shuffling his feet
on each side of the seat
he might move a bit, awkward and slow.
/// On the bottom this horse toy conceals
at the corners four small metal wheels.
Could be pulled by a rope,
but his Papa said, “Nope!”
despite many requests and appeals.
/// So that’s why his expression is sad.
His new toy only made him feel bad.
But he’s not gonna cry,
(he would much sooner die).
He’s the kind who gets even when mad.
/// Looking cute in his powder-blue dress,
he pretends he’s the Pony Express.
But he suffered distress
from his “uncle’s” caress.
(He will have a great deal to suppress.)
/// As an adult he’ll drive in a carriage,
through the park, couples thinking of marriage.
To keep it romantic
he’ll act sycophantic,
so, his cross-dressing, they won’t disparage.
