/// Summer Afternoon, (possibly June),
a girl leans on a hammock and soon
she will try climbing on,
but be flung to the lawn.
Once so elegant— now a buffoon.

/// On this hammock the girl hoped to sleep,
but her balance she just couldn’t keep.
Any movement at all
will result in a fall
where she lands on her rump in a heap.

/// Even harder than swinging up there
all alone was to try as a pair.
Two completely in sync
might survive, but I think
that most couples would rather not dare.

/// Where her hammock is slung between trees,
it’s positioned to catch a cool breeze.
If she lifts just one foot
(while the other stays put),
she’s afraid what an onlooker sees.

/// She’d then fallen asleep unaware
there were men with binoculars there.
As her skirt got tugged higher,
viewers need not inquire
“Does she wear underwear under there?”
