/// Sun and Wind on the Roof do her drying.
It’s more natural, there’s no denying.
Clothes seem more fresh and clean
than when dried by machine,
plus she loves to tease anyone spying.
/// While the sunshine is keeping her warm,
strong winds mold that thin dress to her form.
Guessed by any who stare,
there’s no underwear there.
Males on washday to windows will swarm.
/// She likes putting herself on display
in a seemingly innocent way.
Pinning clothes to a line,
if done right makes men pine,
and that thought always brightens her day.
/// The observant man waits for a breeze.
If he’s patient and lucky he sees
many things are revealed
with no cloth as a shield
until skirt drops back down below knees.
/// Chilling winds only make her more bold.
She’s alone on the roof; none to scold.
Men observe she looks nice
when the air feels like ice;
there are points to be made by the cold.
/// Drying laundry on roofs in the city
must be quick to ensure clothes stay pretty.
In a very short time
they accumulate grime
as with ashes and soot they get gritty.
/// With deep sighs as she works, she thinks, “Gosh,
will I ever wear clothing that’s posh?”
But, in time she’ll join fights
that will win her more rights,
and it all will come out in the wash.
