/// These Three Bathers stand in a wild place,
barely wet as they semi-embrace.
Two are partially dressed,
the third isn’t impressed.
They’re three graces without any grace.
/// What accounts for their odd, awkward pose?
Or the fact that one’s still wearing clothes?
Her pink striped boxer shorts
provide coverage (of sorts),
but why wear that to bathe? No one knows.
/// Her gal pal wears a pink cloth to drape
from her shoulders as though it’s a cape.
To foil men who might watch,
the “cape” covers her crotch,
but at bare boobs they’re still free to gape.
/// Discarded garb hangs from a tree
right behind them, and also we see
someone’s string of white pearls,
owned by one of these girls.
And yet earrings are worn by all three.
/// An enigma is what we have here.
Their relationships— strange and unclear.
There are symbols, no doubt,
I have not figured out.
Could it be we are just meant to leer?
/// Johann Reiter achieved lasting fame
getting models to pose without shame.
They wade in, slow at first,
before getting immersed.
Because “Baptist” is his middle name.
/// Artworks often portrayed the Three Graces
as young nudes with long hair and cute faces.
Fleshy bodies were shown,
(to our eyes, overblown),
in a ring sharing three-way embraces.
/// But these girls are an odd, mismatched group.
One stands straight(ish), the other two droop.
They’re off-balance, ungainly,
and this trio is plainly
quite disgracefully out of the loop.
