/// Sewing dresses Mom ran out of thread,
so she pinned them together, instead.
Her child tried one for size
and, to Mama’s surprise,
blood is staining her socks crimson red.

/// For the next Halloween, Mama felt,
(since her daughter’s not cheerful, nor svelte),
she’d wear blue with puffed sleeves.
In this dress, Mom believes,
her kid looks just like Lucy van Pelt.

/// Dressed in blue, baby “Lucy” looked stunning,
and, in time, she would share Lucy’s cunning.
At her head-shrinker booth
“five cents” wasn’t the truth.
‘Twas per minute– her meter was running.

/// Whistler’s mother called Jamey “her pearl,”
and for years dressed him up like a girl.
He was tempted to sock her,
but his Mom’s off her rocker,
and an ill-tempered, potty-mouthed churl.

/// Some assume it’s a vile aberration
when a child’s self-identification,
doesn’t match what was writ
on their certificate,
so they “fix” them with discrimination.
