/// Smidth has painted a young Country Grocer.
Is he busy with customers? No, sir.
Adding up his accounts
shows he’s lost large amounts
and his bankruptcy looms ever closer.
/// Svend works hard and loves being the boss,
but he can’t turn a profit from loss.
Since all other plans fail
he may need a “Fire Sale.”
(Down wood steps a lit lantern he’d toss.)
/// There are risks, though; he can’t rest assured
that the fact that his store is insured
means that he’ll receive cash
if it burns down to ash.
Svend knows prison could not be endured.
/// This kid opened a General Store
to sell sundries and foodstuff and more.
But with no clientele
he’s not doing too well.
All the Generals went off to war.
(…like Sam Hughes from the painting next door.)
