/// These two elegant young British fillies
cross a lake lush with large water lilies.
It’s the first time they’d seen
water THAT shade of green,
and the algae gives one girl the willies.
/// So she stands in the boat with her pole.
Not to touch the green water’s her goal.
‘Neath a hat, large and shady,
her companion, “The Lady
of the Lake” dips her hand in the shoal.
/// Though both women seem peaceful and calm,
only ONE wets her hand without qualm.
The tyro gondolier
poles their boat despite fear
of disease and she stands with aplomb.
/// It’s a chore through these waters to row
with such tangles of foliage below.
With that pole she can go
sure and safe, although slow.
(Her technique is approved by her beau.)
