/// Here A Striking Encounter took place
when a messenger fell on his face.
He’d gone into a skid,
bumping into the kid
from the bakery after a chase.

/// The young baker’s apprentice had said
that the messenger might try some bread
should the two of them meet
(if they took the same street),
but the messenger stalked him instead.

/// The plan of the messenger boy
was to get free fresh bread to enjoy,
so his pal he harassed
as he kept wheeling past,
but the bakery kid foiled his ploy.

/// Having given the boy a free sample,
he decided that one had been ample,
so the kid in a toque
thrust baguette at a spoke
of the bike that had been used to trample.

/// Although one was now sprawled in the dirt,
neither boy had been too badly hurt.
They had each learned a lesson:
While at work, don’t be messin’
or you may earn your own “just desert.”
