/// Bold Ben Franklin was one busy guy.
Back in Philly, gave printing a try.
Here he proofreads a bit
of his “Poor Richard” wit,
(while he gives a young beauty the eye).

/// With the ladies, Ben never was shy.
He was “lucky in love.” Here is why.
He was funny and smart
and he had a good heart.
His I.Q. and libido were high.

/// In the days of the wood printing press,
getting words on a page made a mess.
There was ink everywhere.
Of crushed fingers— beware!
So they’d hire an apprentice, I guess.

/// Why do print shops shown in days of yore
always have paper strewn on the floor?
Pages trod ‘neath their feet
are a waste (and not neat).
Blame that cat for the messy decor.
