/// He is holding a red battledore
while the shuttlecock lies on the floor.
Over-privileged boy
with a barely-used toy,
(been detestable since he was four).

/// To his jacket is pinned a pink rose,
one more hue for his colorful clothes.
His bold self-assured glance
and his casual stance
are a well-rehearsed “nonchalant” pose.

/// Hard to picture this youngster at play.
He’s inactive for most of the day.
He won’t get these clothes mussed,
torn or covered with dust.
Wealth means getting to have your own way.

/// Although lackeys abound, he’s alone.
He won’t change very much when he’s grown.
Still possesses, with joy,
“Portrait of a (young) Boy.”
Still thinks people’s worth is what they own.
