/// Portrait of a (well-dressed) Lady Sewing,
and her smile is both charming and knowing.
Sews to quench the vile rumors
there are holes in her bloomers,
and to add extra cloth, since she’s growing.

/// She thinks, “Had I been born as a man,
sewing clothing would not be my plan.
I would harness my skills
toward the curing of ills
as a surgeon. I know that I can.”

/// She’s adept at both cutting and stitching,
so to “work” on a human she’s itching.
The sole reason she ain’t
is that blood makes her faint.
Dreams of riches she’ll have to be ditching.

/// Since her stitches are tiny and grand,
as a seamstress she’s much in demand,
On her skirt, each white dot
was assigned its own spot
and each appliquéd on it by hand.
