/// In his lab we find Louis Pasteur,
working hard to develop a cure
for why milk tends to spoil.
Are there “germs” in the soil?
Men of science back then weren’t sure.

/// He claimed microbes are small, thus unseen.
Fight infections by keeping things clean.
Food and drink’s safe to eat
sterilized by high heat.
Louis pioneered modern hygiene.

/// His techniques will protect milk and wine,
and for that all the world likes him fine.
They love Pasteurization.
Not so much vaccination,
which is now, sadly, in a decline.

/// New believers in “alternate” science
convince others to choose non-compliance.
Some in charge, (and their ilk),
are promoting raw milk.
They take pride in their stubborn defiance.

/// When he’s working, Pasteur can be short
with his wife and her wishes he’ll thwart.
So she exits his lab
after calling a cab
to avoid Louis’ pointed retort.*
