Stakes are high, so they’re both under stress.
It’s His Turn and he’s tense.
Can he break her defense?
If he wins, she must take off her dress.
/// Because small talk is something they hate,
they chose strip-chess to be their first date.
White, he made the first move,
now he’s trying to prove
he can capture the Queen and then mate.
/// For each piece lost, they’d doff something small,
but those rules got them nowhere at all.
So the stakes have been raised;
they continue unfazed,
knowing now that it’s “winner take all.”
/// Is he clergy? A Cardinal, say?
(If so, red garb‘s what gave it away.)
Yet, the “Cardinal” word
can describe a red bird.
This guy’s more like a smug popinjay.
