/// To The Boat Hangar Xavier went,
haggling for a cheap rowboat to rent.
Rochelle’s holding the oars,
(she’ll do all rowing chores);
Xavier’s cross-bow ensures her consent.

/// From the way that she holds either oar,
it is clear she can’t fit through the door.
So Rochelle never heard
Xavier whisper the word
to his pals when he called her a “bore”.

/// Rochelle views this boat outing with dread.
She suspects that her spouse wants her dead.
His first wife, Adrienne,
was found drowned in the Seine
with suspicious fresh wounds to her head.

/// Rochelle’s fears, it turned out, came to naught.
Xavier used that crossbow he had brought
to shoot fish with great skill,
but he lost every kill.
They all sank, and so no fish were caught.

/// He’d insisted she row while he shot,
all the while making certain they got
to their first-meeting spot
(where they’d posed for Seurat)
on an island known as La Grande Jatte.
