/// Faun and Mermaid met “cute” on a swim
when he hoisted her up on a whim.
His hands clutched at the scales
of her twin fishy tails
while she giggled and fawned over him.

/// Holding on to his horns the maid steered,
as the seawater dripped from his beard.
The faun’s thick caprine pelt
was all wet, but it smelt
not as bad as the mermaid had feared.

/// He’s half goat, so he’s randy, indeed.
Copulation is his urgent need,
but he just couldn’t find
at her front or behind
any place to deposit his seed.

/// Just as well that their brief seaside “date”
didn’t end with them trying to mate.
If their parts had combined
in one child, they might find
that some things aren’t meant to conflate.

/// There’s no way that their lives they could share.
Couples live as one, but there’s no where
that these two could reside
for all time side-by-side.
She’s amphibious, he must breathe air.

Is the mermaid carried by a faun or a satyr?

/// They’re both half-man half-goat. The Greek satyr
would be rutting right now and not later.
Roman fauns can still play
in a mild flirty way.
Why assault her? He’d much rather date her.
