There’s just three, to be fair,
for the fourth isn’t there.
The archbishop who’d each of them summoned.
/// His sixth, (clergyman), son holds the frame.
George Hay Drummond is that brother’s name.
Third son, Peter, (at right),
and his wife both keep sight
of the painting, as though their Dad came.
/// The archbishop loved art; that’s his “thing.”
He took West (a Yank) under his wing.
Failed to get West a pension,
so he made bold to mention
Ben, the painter, to George, Britain’s King.
/// You may ask what she put in her hair
to achieve that femme-Frankenstein flair.
Her head grew its own hat
using animal fat
called “pomade,” (so, of vermin, beware).
On reviewing the previous limericks:
/// There’s a maxim that I’d been ignoring
which prevented these verses from scoring.
Though the facts may be true,
find some jokes to pursue,
and make sure that the story’s not boring.
