Artist info is pointed to by my comment at another blog entry.
/// These two ladies are dressed to the nines
to view paintings of varied designs.
They spoke during their Visit
to the Studio. “Is it
a good seascape?” “It’s wet.” one opines.
/// Some fine art for her wall Shantay craves,
but Anique doesn’t like it and raves,
“This is hackneyed and trite,
clouds and boats aren’t right,
and my peplum has got better waves!”
/// So the artist did not make a sale.
He decided, instead, to prevail
upon both girls to pose,
(they could keep on their clothes),
and to model they’d just pay him scale.
/// Many “artistic” types, I’d have guessed,
love to see how a woman is dressed.
For these women they’ve passion.
(Not their flesh, just their fashion.)
They’d just yawn at an uncovered breast.
/// Most great painters and sculptors were men.*
And it’s men for whom some had a yen.
Most couturiers, too,
clothe the girls, yet boys woo;
dress up Barbie, but dream about Ken.
*A statement of historical fact, not a value judgement. Women, (who were not given the same opportunities and training), have the same innate artistic talent as men.
