/// On the Yacht (named) “Namouna,” (off) Venice,
summer heat, smells and waves were a menace.
Lillie, slumped in a chair,
suffers from mal de mer,
wishing they were ashore playing tennis.

/// Lillie Langtry abhors choppy seas.
Her dog comforts her, head at her knees.
It’s no wonder Namouna
has been nicknamed “Pneumonia.”
Lill feels ill from the hot, fetid breeze.

/// The rail is her last ditch solution.
Beware wind, or she may need ablution.
(What you heedlessly spew
may blow right back at you,
as a payback for ocean pollution.)

/// The ship was a magnificent sight.
‘Twas designed by McKim, Mead, and White,
and by Tiffany furnished.
Reputation was burnished
so of luxury yachts was the height.

/// Julius Stewart was very impressed,
and was frequently onboard as guest.
People, famed and esteemed,
he would paint while they steamed
to world ports, eating only the best.

/// Lillie Langtry, the acting sensation,
with her beauty and wit charmed her nation.
Mistress to several great
royals and heads of state,
she is shown here in Stewart’s creation.
