/// Leaving Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées,
Jeanne drew next to a cabriolet.
“Pardon me,” she called, flustered,
“do you have any mustard?”
The reply: “Must it be Poupon (Grey)?”

/// Jeanne had called to the cab’s female hack,
but her goal was the guy in the back.
She’s a cunning conniver
who’d instructed her driver
to pull up to that man dressed in black.

/// One big problem with Jeanne’s little scheme
is her coach has one horse, not a team.
Could it keep up the pace
of her amorous race?
The beast’s nostrils are billowing steam.

/// And another important detail
which increased odds this “meet cute“ would fail,
Jeanne had yet to discover
the cute hack was the lover
of her passenger. (Can Jeanne prevail?)

/// The man’s driver then prodded their steed
and the cabriolet picked up speed.
Eye-to-eye with her prize,
Jeanne now batted her eyes.
She suggested they lunch. He agreed.

/// The man, Hugo, at first had seemed icy.
He was civil, polite, but soon nice. He
slowly warmed up to Jeanne.
Her request, Grey Poupon
was a signal that she liked things spicy.

/// This French lady does have savoir-faire.
One might think she would SCREAM; au contraire.
While she mocks him completely
she is smiling so sweetly,
despite language that curled the swine’s hair.
