Here he tries not to place
his blade into his face.
Eryk cuts himself— he’s a self-harmer.
/// Eryk’s troubles began when the Kaiser
ordered Knights to wear helms with no visor.
Now with halberd he seeks
to draw blood from his cheeks.
A compulsive, sad, facial-incisor.
/// As he struggles, his muscles grow tense,
but with will-power, Eryk prevents
his compulsion to cut
from succeeding now, but
he’ll disarm himself in self-defense.
/// Eryk went on a quest— he would fail
to locate the long lost Holy Grail.
In his final self-harm
he would cut off his arm
on a black night of bloodied chain mail.
