/// Little Corporal, First Consul later;
self-crowned Emperor, (each title greater).
How’s Napoleon known
to the other man shown—
Count Las Casas? He was a dictator.

/// To the Count, Nap dictated his story
at Saint Helena. Bold tales (though hoary)
of his many campaigns.
But the fact still remains
the book lied to increase Nappy’s glory.

(Note: In some references the name of the man taking
dictation is Count Las Cases or Count de las Casas.)

/// When le comte got the job he cried “Whoopie!”
You may think that this proves he was loopy.
Though his life’s blown apart
he adored Bonaparte.
Let’s just face it; the man was a groupie.

/// As Napoleon details each war,
battle maps are laid out on the floor.
He walks past them with pride
crossing miles with each stride.
Here, he he can’t be called “short” anymore.
