/// For her beauty Inés was admired,
and for modeling work she was hired,
but she never acquired
the pose Ramón desired.
Got no sleep yesterday and she’s Tired.
/// We may wonder just what she’d been doing,
jeopardizing the job she’s pursuing.
It involved a young man,
(of Inés a big fan),
who had spent the whole night with her “wooing.”
/// It seems clear the poor girl was misled,
and ignored what the artist had said
about how hours awake
could red, puffy eyes make.
Didn’t sleep, though she did get to bed.
/// Since she seems so exhausted and spent,
clever Casas adjusts his intent.
He won’t paint her undressed
‘til she’s looking her best,
and for now her hair’s all he’ll present.
/// Her insomnia kept her awake
to the point where her health was at stake.
When she prayed for relief,
her pure faith and belief
made her snooze right away— piece o’ cake.
/// For some sleeping pills she need not search;
she avoids pharmaceutical merch.
Simple prayer’s all she needs,
and she always succeeds.
(She is often heard snoring in church.)
/// When to stand up again, the girl tried,
she discovered wet paint hadn’t dried
on the table and chair,
and so now she’s stuck there.
Take her nightie off? She has her pride!
