/// In the field they were Tending Their Flock.
Feeling sad, Gia sat on a rock.
They’ve no stockings or shoes,
so it gives her the blues
that at Christmas she can’t hang a sock.

/// Gia dreamed of luxurious palaces,
but her poverty brought on paralysis.
She complains her feet hurt;
Enzo’s answer is curt:
“Just keep walking and build up your calluses.”

/// Their small flock of sheep gathers around,
nibbling grasses right down to the ground.
A few drink from the stream.
Gia and Enzo dream
that with fleece they will all soon abound.

/// Enzo proves he’s “all man” through and through.
And last night, his expressiveness grew
He cried out “I love you!”
(or, perhaps, “I love ewe!”).
Gia wishes she knew what to do.
