That they both fell asleep side-by-side’ll
be adversely construed
by an eavesdropping prude,
but their book’s boring… even the title.
/// “The Salinity of the Pacific”
may be accurately scientific,
but this subject, specific,
though the author’s prolific,
is (for non-PhDs) soporific.
/// And it doesn’t help that the girls’ dresses
are so heavy and hot that it stresses
each one nearly to death
when she can’t catch her breath
on hot days when her corset compresses.
