/// ‘Round their spinet the fam’ly would loiter,
wearing collars the Mom would embroider.
As musicians, they’re fine,
though they lack iodine,
so they all have (or will have) a goiter.

/// Mama hoped her loose dress would disguise
the size of her ponderous thighs.
We can tell she’s quite tall.
(Or her husband is small.)
When she stands she looks down on the guys.

/// Because two of the men here are Vicars
they stay solemn and stifle their snickers.
Feeling warm, Mama’d fanned
herself with her left hand,
using what she’d removed— her huge knickers.

/// Through the parlor the sweet music rings,
from loud chords to the softest of “pings.”
Ev’ryone will rejoice,
adding harmonic voice.
Puppy howls when the pianist sings.
