/// The big dog is a judge and, for sure, he
can keep order in court and quash fury.
When the dogs had played poker
a Shar Pei palmed a Joker.
She now faces a Trial by Jury.

/// In the past she’d been known to secrete
extra aces tucked under her seat,
so, when this time she won
money from everyone,
they accused the Card Shar Pei, “You cheat!”

/// Here the Judge is shown placing his paw
on the big volume of canine law
he’d obtained long ago
when first judged “Best in Show”
and he looks for a gavel to gnaw.

/// When he needs to, the Judge intercedes,
to ensure that the trial succeeds.
The accused begged in tears
to be judged by her peers:
cheats of all different colors and breeds.

/// Seizing poker pots, (seizing the day),
is initiative done the wrong way.
“View my cards? Pay to see ‘em.”
Sharp Shar Pei paid per diem.
Now with prison time she’ll have to pay.
