/// She steps down from her door; he steps up.
He comes home from work. She walks her pup.
The same schedules and yet
they’ve not formally met.
He lacks nerve to invite her to sup.

/// “Ev’ry day we pass by on the stairs.
Though I gaze at her, she’s unawares.
On my mind as I labour
is My Next-Door Neighbour.”
But he’s wrong; she’s aware of his stares.

/// All her life a “good girl” she has been,
but of late she has daydreams of sîn.
His eyes sweep her behind
as she leaves. In her mind
she imagines this man slipping in.
