/// Council members had hired Buland to
paint their portraits, and each tried to do
their most flattering pose.
Full-face, some of them chose.
Others profile or three-quarter view.

/// The result was a hodge-podge, in fact.
Men sit close, but do not interact.
They’re all stiffs and each face
has been locked into place
forming groupings unreal and abstract.

/// They keep quiet and into space stare.
Their opinions? They’re too shy to share.
Every man was selected
by the boss they’d elected.
His bold plan: No one outshines the chair!

/// The Municipal Council’s dispute
is confirming which thug to recruit.
The guy’s spine needs to stiffen,
to outfight Peter Griffin
while dressed up in that huge chicken suit.

/// Men who’d been in that chicken suit dressed,
found that women were never impressed
by the plumed chicken breast.
And, (as he might have guessed),
the pay’s too small to feather his nest.
