/// Emma asked John, “Come make some repairs.”
Just then Ruby dropped by unawares.
Emma’d hoped for much more
than a fixed squeaky door,
but now Ruby attracts all John’s stares.

/// Emma’s jealous of Ruby’s flirtation
with the subject of her adoration.
Though the whole village knows
Ruby’s had many beaux,
John will eagerly yield to temptation.

/// Hands on head, leaning back, Ruby’s arms
are positioned to showcase her charms.
Just a slight backward thrust
will push up her full bust,
setting off John’s hormonal alarms.

/// As a practiced flirt, Ruby well knows
the effects of her man-tempting pose.
Bedroom eyes and coy smile
are designed to beguile.
She can see how John’s “ecstasy” grows.

“How can I,” Emma wonders, “compete
with a woman who throws off such heat?
If I’m there when John’s drinking,
and it’s dark,” Emma’s thinking,
“he might opt for, not sexy, but sweet.”
