/// She had come for some Summer Fun, rowing,
but was not sure now how she’d be going.
If she jumped for the boat
and missed, she’d never float.
If she hit it, her ankle’d be showing.
/// He complained she’s a bit overdressed,
By those words she appeared to be stressed.
She said, “I’ve been in boats
wearing more petticoats,
while for this one I’d need a life vest.
/// “Your timing was poor;” the girl cried,
“We should never have met at low tide.”
Replied he, “Never fear!”
and tied up to the pier
where he clambered straight up to her side.
/// There they waited as waters rose higher.
In a flask he had whiskey to ply her.
Before long they’d begun
to have sweet Summer Fun,
rocking not from the waves, but desire.
