Wikiart.org also had it wrong, when this first ran at GoComics (my previous reference); but it has been corrected there.
As I tried to explain when this ran at Gocomics.com, this is by Konstantin Makovsky, Vladimir's brother (note the K in the signature at the upper right; if it was by Vladimir, that would have been a W).
